GTA 6 Hackers Say Stolen Data “Will be Published as Their Demands Had Not Been Met”

Hackers have said they will publish data obtained from GTA 6 developer Rockstar Games online because their demands have not been met.

The news comes from the BBC, which said it has spoken with the hacker group ‘ShinyHunters’, which compromised Rockstar Games last week.

According to the news outlet, ShinyHunters is a prolific group of English-speaking cybercriminals believed to be teenagers.

The hackers told the BBC they had confirmed the stolen data would soon be posted online “as their demands had not been met.”

Rockstar Games confirmed that it had been breached but downplayed the significance of the breach on GTA 6’s development and on players.

In a statement sent to Insider Gaming, a Rockstar Games spokesperson said,

“We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach. This incident has no impact on our organization or our players.”

As of this writing, no breached data from the Rockstar Games hack has appeared online, but if it does, we will update our readers.

The hack marks it the second time that Rockstar Games has been breached during GTA 6’s development, with the first major hack coming in 2022, when over 90 in-game development videos of GTA 6 leaked online. The hack reportedly had a massive negative impact on the game’s development, resulting in game delays.

At the time of writing, Grand Theft Auto 6 is due to release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X on November 19, 2026. There’s currently no release date window for the game on PC.
