Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Williams has found a spot on Cloud9 New York after more than a month outside of a roster spot in the Call of Duty League. The two-time (almost three-time) world champion was dropped by LA Thieves in February after a weak start to the 2026 season, a move that came after a rough stint following his 2024 CDL Champs win with OpTic Texas.
Between lifting the COD Champs trophy and signing with Cloud9 New York, Kenny crashed in the KD stakes, had a hugely unsuccessful period with Minnesota ROKKR, and had just a few weeks in the League with LAT before being cast out.
Kenny Has a New Home
In a tongue-in-cheek post on social media, Cloud9 New York revealed the signing of Kenny. It was in response to a divisive, controversial page known as ‘CDL Highlight’, making a rough comment about Kenny back on March 4th:
I’ll permanently delete my Twitter account if you end up back on a CDL team.
You will never be back in the league you bum
The C9NY social team wrote:
Our end of the deal is done
It’s a tricky place to be, though. Cloud9 New York is currently flat bottom in the CDL standings for the 2026 season. The team, which looked as though it would be roster-less for a while, has managed to win just two out of 15 matches this year. The map win rate is a paltry 32.7%
At the other end of the table, for comparison, you have OpTic Texas, Kenny’s former organization. That squad is sitting on a win record of 15 – 4 and a map win score of 70%. So, Kenny is back in the League, sure, but it’s not in the most advantageous position possible.
Cinderella story coming up at Major II in the United Kingdom? Maybe.
