Riot is giving “precise gunplay” a serious bump in one of the biggest VALORANT updates of the 2025 season. With Patch 11.08 set to completely flip the tac shooter’s meta through utility reworks, map updates, and weapon balances, you’d probably want to hit the Practice Range (or Aim Labs) more often than before.
Dropping on Oct. 14, VALORANT Patch 11.08 will bring longer ability cooldowns, major agent nerfs, much-requested Pearl and Abyss reworks, favorable weapon tuning, and plenty more. The full patch notes aren’t out yet, but Riot has already announced the head-turning changes we can expect with Patch 11.08.
Here’s an early rundown of every Patch 11.08 tweak coming to VALORANT before the official notes drop.
All changes in VALORANT Patch 11.08
Global initiator and sentinel updates
Refresh utilities in VALORANT are set to have longer cooldowns than before, majorly affecting the initiator and sentinel classes. Here’s a summary of these changes:
Sentinels
- Cooldowns increased on destroyed utilities, from 45s to 60s.
- Debuff durations decreased to match systemic changes
- Health decreased on breakable abilities.
Initiators
- Initiator Signature ability recharge times increased from 40s to 60s. This will only affect Sova, Breach, KAY/O, and Fade since Skye and Tejo don’t have rechargeable utilities, and Gekko’s kit works differently.
- Flashes (Skye, Breach, and KAY/O) now apply for a uniform 2.25 seconds.
Global ability changes
Combat Stim, Nearsight, and Concuss will now apply the same quality of debuffs or buffs across all agents.
- Nearsight vision range increased from five to seven metres for Omen’s Paranoia, Skye’s Seekers, Fade’s Prowlers, and Reyna’s Leer.
- Combat Stim buff is now the same for Brimstone’s Stim Beacon, KAY/O’s NULL/CMD, and Reyna’s Empress.
- Concuss duration for every ability is now 2.5 seconds.
Duelist changes
Yoru and Neon are getting much-needed changes to stop them from outshining their peers.
Yoru
- Fakeout and Blind Duration reduced from two seconds to 1.6.
- Gratecrash (teleport) health reduced from 60 to 20.
- Audio now plays from his teleport’s location instead of where he teleported to.
- Flash duration down to 1.5 seconds.
- Yoru can no longer cast Blindside or set up his Fakeout during his ultimate. This is a drastic change that will make his ultimate all about gathering information and very little about outplaying enemies.
Neon
- Neon can now sprint for a longer time (12 > 16 seconds), but the bar regenerates fuel slower (20 > 60 seconds).
- Relay Bolt Concuss duration reduced from 3.5 seconds to 2.5 seconds.
Patch 11.08 will also nerf Waylay and Iso as part of the “gunplay first” initiative.
Waylay
- Saturate Hinder debuff now lasts three seconds, down from four.
- Ultimate (Convergent Paths) now has a smaller area of effect, but a faster windup time. Waylay’s Convergent (speed buff) is now reduced. Enemies hit by Convergent Paths are Hindered for six seconds instead of seven.
Iso
- Smaller area of effect for his ultimate, Kill Contract.
Initiator changes
Breach, Fade, and Gekko will receive targeted changes to their abilities to balance them out with the rest of the updates.
Gekko
- Gekko’s pickable Globules now have a cooldown of 20 seconds, up from 15 seconds.
- Wingman HP reduced from 80 to 60.
- Thrash HP reduced from 200 to 180.
Breach
- Reduced windup time on Faultline from 1.2 seconds to 1.1 seconds.
- Ultimate (Rolling Thunder) area of effect reduced.
- Ultimate points reduced from nine to eight.
Fade
- Haunt will stay in the world for 1.5 seconds, down from two seconds.
- Ultimate (Nightmare) area of effect reduced.
Controller changes
As a collective step toward a weapon-dominant future in VALORANT, Patch 11.08 will hit controller agents with nerfs to bring them in line with other agents.
Omen
- Dark Cover cooldown increased from 30s to 40s
- Paranoia Travel Distance decreased, and speed increased.
Viper
- Instant Decay when touching her smokes (wall, orb, and ultimate) reduced from 30 to 10.
Astra
- Astra’s Nova Pulse now has a uniform concuss time in line with other agents. Cooldown increased to 60 seconds.
- Gravity Well’s Vulnerable time reduced from five seconds to 2.5. Cooldown increased to 60 seconds.
- Nebula (smoke) cooldown increased from 25 to 40 seconds.
Sentinel changes
Like other classes, the sentinels are getting major changes too. Starting with Vyse, her flash ability no longer offers intel, while her ultimate radius has been reduced.
- Razorvines health decreased from 40 to 20.
- Steel Garden ultimate’s radius decreased from 32.5 to 26 metres. Activation time increased from 3.4 seconds to 4.4.
- Arc Rose no longer plays a hit confirmation cue.
Sage and Deadlock’s walls are getting nerfs too, but with a subtle price buff.
- Sage’s Barrier Orb health reduced from 800 to 600. Cost reduced from 400 to 300.
- Deadlock’s Barrier Mesh mini node health reduced from 570 to 480. Cost reduced from 400 to 300.
Cypher mains aren’t safe either. If you loved tilting enemies with odd camera and trapwire placements, things are about to get harder.
- Spycam now acts like other utility, where getting close to the cam will now reveal its position.
- Trapwire no longer concusses enemies. It only slows them.
- Trapwire no longer reveals enemies instantly after being caught. The location reveal is activated after the windup. The windup time is now shorter.
Lastly, Killjoy is receiving some balance updates, too.
- Longer Turret reactivation time when entering its range.
- Alarmbot now has reduced HP from 50 to 20.
- Turret fire hits will now slow you down more than before.
All map reworks in VALORANT Patch 11.08
Abyss and Pearl are getting major changes “to enable more creative site holds and post-plants.”
Abyss’ B site and Mid have been updated to foster more ways for defenders to defend or reclaim space and for attackers to claim space and make their way into a site.
Pearl’s B site has always been attacker-friendly, but this changes drastically with VALORANT’s Patch 11.08. The reworks will balance the gameplay out for both attackers and defenders, and discourage monotonous post-plant plays—like holding the Spike from B Long.
All weapon updates in VALORANT Patch 11.08
To further minimize ability impact, Riot is buffing gunplay with Patch 11.08. Here are the changes, summarized:
- Shots will be more predictable for all rifles, except Guardian. Spray control will improve.
- Spectre’s tap fire and sprays will become easier to control and utilize. Stinger’s spray will kick in faster.
Other expected changes in VALORANT Patch 11.08
Besides all the agent, weapon, and map tweaks, Patch 11.08 will introduce the Rank Manipulation report feature, one of the biggest steps against smurfs in VALORANT so far. You can also expect some major bugs to be addressed with this update.
We’ll update this article when the patch notes go live.
