Hollow Knight Silksong introduces multiple new currencies compared to the first title, like Rosaries, which help you purchase maps and other useful items on your journey to the Citadel, but you lose every one of them once you die. However, you can make items such as Rosary String, which is introduced in the early game, but its use isn’t explained. 

We’ll go over how you can make these Rosary Strings in Hollow Knight Silksong and keep these useful beads in your inventory to strategically spend them at the right times.

How to craft Rosary String in Hollow Knight Silksong

To craft the Rosary String in Hollow Knight Silksong, you need 80 Rosary Beads that you can obtain by defeating a few particular types of enemies starting from Mosshome. You can also find these beads hanging from strings while clearing different areas and even secret areas on the map and collect them to get them in your inventory.

Once you have enough Rosary Beads, you have to make your way to the starter settlement region of the Bonebottom and you should find a trader here. You can either use the Bell Beast for fast travel to the area or use the elevator from Mosshome to come down. Now, interact with the trader and scroll down the buy menu to find the option to make Rosary String. Spend 80 beads to make a Rosary String and it’ll be added to your bag. There is another kind of Rosary String, which is frayed, but you find it in secret places in different biomes and it is a bit worn out compared to the normal one.

How to use Rosary String in Hollow Knight Silksong

Once you have converted your loose beads to the Rosary String, it permanently stays in your inventory and you can’t lose them even when you die to fearsome bosses or simple minions. To use Rosary Strings, open your inventory and you can break them down to recover beads to trade with different NPCs.

The Rosary String grants you 60 beads—slightly less than your initial investment, but a worthwhile trade to keep your resources safe, especially when preparing for a tough boss battle. Meanwhile, the Frayed Rosary String offers 30 beads, serving as a smaller but still valuable safety net when you don’t want to risk losing everything.
