The price of an XBOX Series X/S console has reached sky-high levels in Europe amid yet another hike that has seen tags leap up by as much as 33%. If you’re in the market for one of these consoles, you’ll need to bite one hell of a bullet and break out the big bucks, with prices skyrocketing by €200 in places.
Unfortunately, these price hikes are being received across the board, so even the cheapest, entry-level XBOX Series console can be considered a bank-breaker of a purchase.
XBOX Price Hikes Hit Europe and Shock Consumers
In Europe, the confirmed price point for an XBOX Series S is now as high as €599.99, up from €399.99, and the highest price for an XBOX Series X console is an eye-watering €799.99, up from €599.99. In the United Kingdom, that’s as much as £429.99 for an XBOX Series S, and £669.99 for an XBOX Series X.
These new price points are representative of XBOX’s struggles to keep costs low amid the component crisis introduced by the growth of AI and the soaring prices of memory and other critical console parts.
On ResetEra, the new price tags were debated by social media users, resulting mostly in the collective lambasting of XBOX’s brand, which has been through the wringer of late.
One user stated, ‘This brand has no future,’ while another slammed the firm: ‘Final nail in the coffin.’
Another said, ‘There is no way in 2026 I would be paying nearly £700 for a Series X with a disk drive.’
Recently, XBOX’s CEO, Asha Sharma, unveiled a four-pillared plan to right the ship at the tech titan company, leading the charge with a future focus on hardware and traditional XBOX consoles. At these price points, it’s an unhealthy future to bet on, and it’s a revelation that comes after XBOX has struggled for years to get consoles off shelves.
