WWE Files For New Trademarks Related to Video Games

New WWE trademarks have been filed pertaining to “video, mobile, and computer games.”

Three new trademarks were all filed in the class of Computer & Software Products & Electrical & Scientific Products. As with trademarks, filings don’t necessarily guarantee whether a product will be released or what type it will be. Still, it does appear that WWE is branching out with its gaming offerings once again.

WWE Looks to ‘Lock It In’ with New Trademark Filings

“WWE Lock It In,” “WWE Championship Gold,” and “WWE Scratchcard” were all filed on July 27 and share the same trademark description.

Video, mobile and computer game software, video games for use with wireless devices; online video games; video games for use via a global computer network and wireless devices; coin-fed amusement gaming machines; interactive video game programs; interactive multimedia computer games on all platforms; downloadable computer game software for use on mobile and cellular phones; downloadable electronic game software for use on mobile phones and handheld computers; downloadable game software

They also filed a trademark for “AWA” on the same day. The mark was filed in the toys category. The AWA, or American Wrestling Association, is a defunct wrestling promotion from the 1970s and ’80s, and its intellectual property is owned by WWE. The AWA never formally entered the world of video games, but its championship belts and logos have been featured in past WWE 2K releases.
