At the end of Fallout’s second season, we see The Ghoul take off in the direction of Colorado. His journey has been extended, and while he hasn’t yet found what he’s looking for, he might find it across the country and far beyond New Vegas. However, this revelation has fans wondering which Fallout game is set in Colorado, and why might the third season of the show go there?

If you’ve been asking what Fallout game takes place in Colorado, read on. Let’s dive into that answer and determine why it’s an important location for The Ghoul.

Is Colorado Mentioned in Fallout?

Colorado has never been directly visited in the Fallout universe, but it has received plenty of mentions over the years. For instance, we know that Caesar’s Legion forayed into the state, clashing against tribes that inhabited the territory. The Legion assumed control of vast swathes of Colorado, and it’s in Fallout: New Vegas, their game, that the area is mentioned the most.

There’s a minor mention of Colorado in Fallout 76, when the Brotherhood of Steel force that heads to Appalachia must navigate the region’s Rocky Mountains to reach the area around Vault 76.

That means that the closing moments of the second season of Fallout that showed The Ghoul heading to Colorado mark new territory. This will be the first original location introduced by the Prime-backed series. Until now, we’ve stayed almost entirely around known locations that were established many years ago.

Spoilers Ahead

All the inspiration The Ghoul needed for his journey

The Ghoul learns at the end of the second season that his wife and child are alive, and they’re most likely with the remnants of the Enclave in a facility in Colorado. It might be building for a revelation that the Enclave is holed up in NORAD, but that’s mostly conjecture.

Whatever happens now, The Ghoul has firmly split from Lucy and Maximus and could be putting more than 700 miles between them when Fallout’s third season drops, whenever that might be.
