Escape from Tarkov is getting a major update in the 1.1.0.0 patch, which is set to introduce the game’s first ‘season’, a fresh event, and some new weapons, refined mechanics, and other quality-of-life improvements. It’s set to be pretty huge, and it’ll transform the future of this spearhead extraction shooter title.

But when is Escape from Tarkov’s next update coming out? The release date for the 1.1.0.0 update is approaching, but there’s every chance Battlestate Games might delay it. Find out everything we know below.

Escape from Tarkov Season 1 Release Date

Nikita Buyanov, the head of the studio at Battlestate Games, has confirmed on social media that the first season of Escape from Tarkov should start on August 3rd. It was due to begin at the end of July, but the 1.1.0.0 update release date was pushed back.

It’s a monster of an update, so it makes sense that Battlestate Games needs to adjust to accommodate it.

How reliable is that confirmed date, though? It’s hard to tell. Battlestate Games is usually solid enough, but historically the firm has played fast and loose with deadlines, and almost every time a new update drops, the maintenance window is extended due to unforeseen issues.

Let’s hope that’s not the case with the Kord Breach update, as folks are extremely excited.

What’s in the Next Escape from Tarkov Update?

As explained, the heart of the 1.1.0.0 update in Escape from Tarkov is the introduction of seasonal characters. These are temporary and highly dynamic characters that exist separately to you PvE and PvP characters. Every few months, a new season will surface with different modifiers and themes, presenting players with a brand-new character to explore the game with.

They’ll be invited to select from an array of positive and negative personal modifiers to customize their experience, and they’ll have a battle pass and in-season challenges and events to enjoy.

The 1.1.0.0 update also introduces major changes to how the ‘insurance’ mechanic works, how side tasks are progressed, and how traders are levelled up. There will also be new weapons, attachments, equipment items, and cosmetics to unlock, purchase, and earn.

Alongside that, Battlestate Games is intent on pouring optimization efforts into Escape from Tarkov, so you can expect the 1.1.0.0 update to generally fix up some of the game’s biggest bugbears right now. Or, you can hope it does.
