G2 Esports Claims Warzone Resurgence Series Win at Esports World Cup

G2 Esports has managed to find success at the Esports World Cup in Paris, taking home the grand prize of $250,000 and earning a wedge of Club Championship points for the organization. The three-man roster, which has been playing alongside one another for years, managed to top all comers to lift the trophy in Paris at the most valuable tournament in esports.

This momentous win is a redemption moment for the G2 Esports roster, as it’s the same squad that fell in seventeenth place at last year’s Esports World Cup, representing a massive turnaround for the history books.

Warzone Winners Go Big in Paris

The trio of Anziety, Bigman, and Cythe powered through the competition to secure the trophy and the $250,000 grand prize at the Warzone Resurgence Series in Paris. The Esports World Cup stage was kind to the squad this year, offering them a chance at vengeance against last season’s woeful result.

In a post-win statement, Ashton ‘Bigman’ Ezard said:

It feels good, especially from last year. I was on rock bottom, and now we’ve won, so it’s just the storyline that was meant to be. It hasn’t hit me yet, it doesn’t feel real, but it will hit me later. It just felt like a scrim to me.

Aarondeep ‘Cythe’ Dhami backed up Bigman:

I’ve been playing with my team for the past four years, last year at EWC we almost got dead last, and for this year, just to prove all the doubters wrong… It doesn’t feel real. It’s crazy.

Anthony ‘Anziety’ Moran landed the MVP award for the entire event, securing a $25,000 bonus. He gushed after the result:

I’ve got no words right now. None.

I’m just shocked that we won that game. There are no words. It feels amazing. I lost my voice screaming. This is amazing.

This was the first year that the Warzone Resurgence Series took place, starting out at the beginning of the year with qualification stages at various events around the world, including Dreamhack Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
