Former EA FC Dev Calls The Grounds “One of the Worst Projects” of Career

EA FC 27’s headline addition is The Grounds, a new social hub where you can hang out with other players. There are mini-games and interactive options, but a former dev who worked on EA FC 27 claims it wasn’t good to work on.

EA teased its new open-world ‘The Grounds’ mode for EA FC 27 ahead of its reveal.

It was made official alongside its release date and first gameplay trailer. Reactions to it have been mixed, with some appreciating EA going the mile to make a big new mode, but others are worried it’s a transparent addition. Now, a former EA FC dev has commented on what it was like working on The Grounds.

Former EA Dev Says The Grounds ‘Will Expose the Company’ in EA FC 27

Renzo Barraza is a former EA dev who worked on the EA FC/FIFA game series between 2013 and 2025.

They go under the name ‘DaaGlitcher’ now, and you can see their resume below, featuring various roles, rising from a Tester to a Quality Designer.

Barraza regularly posts videos about football games, how he’d do things differently, and has finally opened up on EA FC 27‘s new The Grounds game mode:

‘This was the last project I worked on for FC, and I believe this new mode will expose the company even more because its true philosophy will be reflected in it. Video coming soon, guys. I want to share what I went through while working on one of the worst projects I’ve ever experienced in my entire career.’

It’s unclear how it will ‘expose the company,’ but it could mean The Grounds is low-effort and is being presented as this big new deal, when it’s actually anything but—this is pure speculation, though.

Hopefully, we’ll hear more from Barraza soon about what it was like working on The Grounds, and what everyone can expect come launch day.
