Final Fantasy 14 To Set Switch 2 Record With Huge Install Size

Final Fantasy 14 is set to break the record for the game with the largest install size on Nintendo Switch 2, taking up almost half of the console’s entire storage.

The title is set to release on August 4, and the mammoth size means players may have to clear out their storage of older games, or potentially splash out on a new SD card.

Final Fantasy 14 Install Size on Switch 2 Revealed

Confirmed by the Final Fantasy 14 Nintendo eShop listing, via IGN, the install size on Switch 2 clocks in at a mammoth 117.2GB, almost half of the console’s standard 256GB memory.

This is around double the title’s install size on PlayStation 5, but works out similarly to the install size on PC, and is explained by the inclusion of the game’s five previous expansions.

Final Fantasy 14 on Nintendo Switch 2 includes the Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and Dawntrail expansions, which will therefore not require any additional space, but a sixth expansion, Evercold, is on the way and will take up more of your Switch 2 storage.

The new record breaks a record that Square Enix already held, with the largest Switch 2 game prior to the release of FF14 being Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which clocks in at 91.8GB.

Square Enix also holds another record with the highest install size for a game bundle with the Kingdom Hearts Collection, totalling three games that take up 131GB of storage in total.
