Asha Sharma Shares Four Priorities For XBOX Over The Next Year

Asha Sharma, XBOX CEO, has laid out the plans for the company as they head into fiscal year 2027. Of these plans, there seem to be four strong priorities, which should hopefully return the brand to growth by the end of FY27.

Of course, this news is off the back of the recent XBOX layoffs, where a memo was shared publicly. 1,600 people lost their jobs with the cuts, with another 1,600 or so set to leave in the next year. This was in response to her claims that the industry is not in a healthy place, as she hopes to entertain a billion people daily with the XBOX brand.

Four C’s To Rule XBOX

In a memo that The Verge managed to obtain, Asha Sharma shared that the goal over the next fiscal year is to “return XBOX to player and revenue growth.” It’s a lofty ambition, as they aim to “improve profits back in line with industry averages,” and she has a clear plan of how they will achieve these goals.

It all boils down to four key priorities for XBOX:

• Core: Strengthen our platform, led by console
• Content: Grown great games into global franchises
• Creation: Make Minecraft the world’s leading creator platform
• Connection: Extend the worlds that fans love

On their own, they’re fairly vague statements, but they fall in line with what she shared in the public memo earlier this month, especially the note about wanting Minecraft to be a leading platform for creators, as she previously stated that it was “massively underinvested.“

With those Four Cs at the forefront of the operations, the overarching progress will be made in three stages, with the first being to return to growth this fiscal year. However, moving on to FY28 and beyond, she insists that the Four C’s must “move into business producing meaningful player value and revenue acceleration.”

Finally, the eventual goal is to “scale what works,” and by FY30, the ambition is that they’ll be “halfway to our long-term daily-player goal with sustained double-digit growth in players and engagement and industry leading margins.”
