The CEO of Microsoft has commented on the recent shake-ups in its XBOX division. This comes as the brand is in the midst of a massive overhaul.

On July 29, XBOX reported its quarterly financial earnings. Following the report, there was an earnings call. During the call, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella addressed the ongoing reset at XBOX and expressed his excitement about the brand’s future.

Microsoft’s latest earnings report shows that XBOX content services revenue fell 10% YoY, hardware revenue dropped 13% this quarter, and full-year brand revenue declined 5%. Despite a rough year for the gaming division, Microsoft’s overall revenue was up 31.34% year-over-year to $133.75 billion.

Satya Nadella Says XBOX Has the Best IP and Studios Despite Recent Cuts

On the earnings call, Satya Nadella called the recent difficult decisions the necessary ones required to set the business up for eventual long-term growth. He also praised the catalog of properties, studios, and talented staff who are still on board at XBOX. He closed by saying that he believes the brand can return to growth in the fiscal year ending in 2027.

Let me talk about devices and consumer.

When it comes to XBOX, we are making the necessary decisions required across our content portfolio, platform, and operations to reset the business for long-term growth.

We have the best IP in the industry, and talented studios around the world, and believe we can bring these strengths together and expect to return the business to growth in fiscal 2027.

The reset was formally announced on July 6, with Xbox CEO Asha Sharma admitting that the business is unhealthy and saying that the previous Game Pass strategy was unsuccessful.
