Riot Games has announced a partnership with streaming platform Kick, bringing Riot Games esports to the platform for the first time.
The move follows similar announcements by tournament organizers in the Counter-Strike and Dota space, with ESL now broadcasting its tournaments on the platform.
What will Riot broadcast on Kick?
The announcement is set to include League of Legends, Valorant, TFT, and Wild Rift esports, beginning with League of Legends’ Midseason Invitation (MSI) 2026, which commences on June 28.
Riot explained the motivation behind the partnership, stating, “KICK is the primary platform for many passionate esports fans, especially in LATAM, MENA, and Europe.
Bringing KICK into the mix of our global platform lineup helps us better serve those communities and brings more players together around the moments, matches, and creators they care about most.”
Riot Games added that drops were also coming to the platform to ensure there was no disparity between platforms during broadcast, stating, “The viewing experience on KICK will feel familiar to players, with access to the same drops and incentives available during our global event broadcasts on other platforms.”
Co-streaming has become a predominant, and sometimes controversial, aspect of Riot’s ecosystem, with the co-streaming viewership now outperforming the official broadcast across esports. Nevertheless, Riot is keen to capture co-streamers in the Kick space, opening up co-streaming to Kick creators.
Does Kick partnership give a clue to Riot’s future intentions?
Kick was co-founded and is co-owned through parent company Easygo Entertainment Pty Ltd by Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani, the co-founders and co-owners of online casino Stake.
Kick’s admission follows the June 2025 loosening of betting sponsorship restrictions in the LoL and Valorant spaces for organizations, though betting sponsors can still not be shown on broadcast.
The partnership raises the question of whether Riot is moving more in the direction of allowing greater relaxation of gambling restrictions, but for now, the rules remain the same.
Currently, Team Vitality is sponsored by Stake, but displays the French retailer ‘E.Leclerc’ on its jerseys for League of Legends competition due to Riot restrictions.
Additionally, Kick has at times marketed looser moderation as a selling point of the platform; however, Riot specifically stated in their announcement that moderation across Kick would be identical to other platforms, “ensuring a safe and positive experience for all.”
